Los Blancos remain unbeaten in both competitions this season, sitting in second in the Primera Division standings, while they've won both their first two European fixtures.
And Modric believes Madrid have all the resources they need to challenge on all fronts this season.
"La Liga or the Champions League? No, no, both trophies. Why can't we win both?" he said while on international duty with Croatia.
"There is the team and the players to do so. We have to be optimistic. I've realised what it means to be at Real Madrid. Everything that's said is true. When you're outside the club it can seem exaggerated, but it's not.
"It's the biggest thing as a club and as a team. By your side there are the best players and it's great for me to play with them, to learn from them and contribute to the team."
