Premier League champions Chelsea and their London rivals Arsenal have been fined £40,000 and £30,000 respectively and warned as to their future conduct after failing to control their players during their derby clash on Sept. 19.

Arsenal defender Gabriel was sent off in the 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge for his angry reaction toward Diego Costa following the Chelsea striker's clash with Gunners centre-back Laurent Koscielny.

Gabriel had the red card overturned on appeal, but Costa was retrospectively banned for three matches for violent conduct.

However, both clubs were also charged for their players becoming involved in heated fracas in the 44th and 47th minutes of the match, and the Football Association has punished the two sides.

Gabriel and Diego Costa rowed on the pitch after the Chelsea striker had clashed with Laurent Kosielny.

An FA statement reads: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Chelsea and Arsenal have been fined £40,000 and £30,000 respectively and warned as to their future conduct after both clubs admitted a breach of FA Rule E20.

"The charge was for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion from the 44th to the 47th minute of the game at Stamford Bridge on 19 September 2015.

"The Independent Regulatory Commission considered the previous disciplinary records of both clubs in reaching its decision on sanction."

Koscielny, currently sidelined with an ankle injury, is aiming to return to action in time for the Gunners' crucial Champions League group-stage clash against Bayern Munich on Oct. 20.
