Neymar will stay at Barcelona "for life"

In one of the most surprising transfer rumours of the summer, Barcelona superstar Neymar was linked with a record-breaking move to Manchester United.
It seems the Red Devils were after every big name under the sun over the course of the transfer window, but their interest in the Brazilian was not to be laughed at.
The Old Trafford club were prepared to spend £240 million on signing the Barcelona forward, but a move away from the Nou Camp never seemed likely.
However, that has not put an end to suggestions he will leave the Catalan club at some point in the future.
The 23-year-old is tied down to Barca until 2018 and the club were reportedly ready to offer him a new contract to make him the second highest earner, behind Lionel Messi, to fend off interest.
Despite no confirmation of a new deal, Barcelona's technical director Roberto Fernandez believes Neymar will stay at the Camp Nou 'for life'.
He told Marca: "We are currently working on Neymar's contract extension and I don't think there will be any type of problem,
"I have no doubt in my mind that Neymar will spend the rest of his life at Barcelona."
MARQUEE
The Red Devils have spent millions of pounds on rebuilding their squad since the arrival of Louis van Gaal but are yet to tie down a marquee signing.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has recently told Manchester United to stop making enquiries over Thomas Muller and it appears they will soon face the same fate in their pursuit of Neymar.
It never seemed likely the South American would make the switch to Old Trafford, but United fans were allowed to dream as their club pursued that big-name signing they craved.
There is no doubt the Red Devils will continue to look for a player in the mould of Muller or Neymar. Where they turn their attention to next is anyone's guess.
