Monaco 1 : 1 Stade Rennais FC - Monaco drop more points at home as Rennes earn draw

Monaco's woes at home continued as they were forced to come from behind to claim a 1-1 draw with Rennes at the Stade Louis II.

The principality side are yet to claim maximum points at home this season and, despite Wallace cancelling out Abdoulaye Doucoure's opener, the hosts were unable to push on for the win.

They might even have ended up with nothing if Pedro Henrique had made the most of his second-half penalty, but he was denied by Monaco keeper Danijel Subasic.

Rennes had the ball in the net as early as the 15th minute but, after Doucoure's effort came back off the post and cannoned in off Ludovic Baal, the assistant referee's flag ruled out any early celebrations.

Leonardo Jardim's side responded but somehow Abdoulaye Diallo in the visitors goal denied Stephan El Shaarawy from close range before Adama Traore sent a decent opportunity agonisingly wide of the right upright.

Then, on the stroke of half-time, Rennes broke the deadlock when Doucoure rose highest at the back post to head across Danijel Subasic from Baal's pinpoint delivery.

Monaco did not have to wait long after the restart to claw themselves back into the game, though, when Nabil Dirar flicked on a corner and Wallace headed home from close range.

However, when Fabinho hauled down Cheik M'bengue in the area on 64 minutes it looked like Rennes would reclaim the lead but Pedro Henrique was denied from 12 yards by the strong right arm of Subasic.

Monaco pressed for the winner late on and Thomas Lemar went close with a free-kick but, with Diallo beaten, his effort clipped the bar before a wonderful Diallo save denied Guido Carrillo's powerful effort.
