Millwall vs Southend United preview - Millwall sweating on Sid Nelson for Southend visit

Sid Nelson will hope to return to contention for Millwall when Southend visit The Den on Saturday.

Nelson missed the midweek win against Port Vale with a rib injury but the defender could have recovered by the weekend. However, after Byron Webster helped the Lions keep a clean sheet at Vale Park in his absence, the teenager may struggle to get straight back into the starting line-up.

Summer signing Joe Martin was on the bench on Tuesday night, having so far been unfit since injuring his ankle ligaments towards the end of pre-season.

However, long-term absentee Shaun Cummings remain unavailable as he recovers from a hamstring tear.

Southend are monitoring the fitness of three players ahead of their Sky Bet League One clash at the Den.

Shrimpers manager Phil Brown has rated forwards Noel Hunt and David Mooney as "50/50", telling the Southend Echo that he will have to leave his selection until late on Saturday.

He said: "We've got a number of injuries and we're looking at maybe having to make three or four enforced changes to the team. We've had a couple of setbacks with Noel this week and he's very much 50/50 for the game."

A decision on left-back Ben Coker (hamstring) will also be delayed, while Brown did confirm Stephen McLaughlin (illness) is set to miss out.
