Barcelona are on the lookout for a Pedro replacement, and according to the Mail, they could be doing some business with Leicester City to that end.
The paper claim that the Catalans are considering a shock move for the Foxes’ Riyad Mahrez, having identified the Algerian as an ideal replacement for Pedro, who signed for Chelsea this summer.
Having signed from Le Havre in the summer of 2014, Mahrez has been central to Leicester’s success story, which saw them beat the drop against the odds last season, and now sees them flying high at the start of this new season.
The 24-year-old has scored four goals in the first four games of the season, and is seen as having the same combination of goalscoring capacity from the wing as Pedro.
With their FIFA transfer ban set to be lifted in January, Barcelona will be able to sign new players once more in 2016, and Mahrez has emerged as their number 1 target.
Manchester City’s Jesus Navas and Celta Vigo’s Nolita are two other names who have been identified by new sporting director Robert Fernandez.
