WAYNE ROONEY has been back to become England's greatest ever striker tomorrow.

The England captain has been struggling to find the net for Manchester United this season and hasn't scored a Premier League goal since the start of April.

But he needs just two more international strikes to rack up a half century for England and take him past Sir Bobby Charlton's current record of 49.

And team-mate Harry Kane believes Rooney will be a record breaker against Euro 2016 minnows San Marino tomorrow.

"Wayne is an incredible player and I hope it works out for him to break the record on this trip," said the Tottenham striker.

"I'd be delighted for him and I'm sure he's excited as well.

"He's been a great servant to the country and I still think he's got many more years to give.

"He's a goalscorer and he's shown that year in and year out, for club and country. Everyone is excited for him."

England were yesterday overtaken by Wales in the FIFA world rankings for the first time.

And World Cup winner Joachim Low has accused the Premier League of ruining the England team and turning Germany into world beaters.

The German boss insists Roy Hodgson's men suffer due to the Premier League's reliance on expensive foreign signings.

Low said: "Premier League clubs are now paying three times what they used to. But the good thing is that money is being ploughed back into the Bundesliga.

"That helps make the German national team stronger because in the last few years £100m has been put back into youth development.

"It makes sense to raise your own young players and give them an opportunity.

"The English will have face up to that - their young players don't get the minutes for their clubs.

"That is why the English national team hasn't set the world alight in major championships."
