Las Palmas 0 - 0 Levante : Goalless draw brings first points for Las Palmas and Levante

Las Palmas and Levante picked up their points of the season after playing out a goalless draw in the first top flight game at the Estadio Gran Canaria in 12 years.

Newly-promoted Las Palmas dominated possession and were the only side to take the initiative over the 90 minutes, but they came unstuck against Lucas Alcaraz's ultra-defensive unit.

The focal point of the hosts' attack was Argentinian striker Sergio Araujo, who fired just wide of goal from the edge of the area in the first half. The former Barcelona B forward also could have snatched a last-gasp winner, but his bicycle kick in stoppage time was turned away by Levante stopper Ruben Martinez.

The former Almeria goalkeeper also made a smart save from an effort by David Simon in the second half, and later watched with relief as Aythami Artiles' header flew just over his crossbar.

The only signs of danger at the other end from Levante were from set plays but Alcaraz's side claimed a point following last week's reverse at home to Celta Vigo, while Las Palmas also got off the mark a week after losing at Atletico Madrid.
