Atalanta 2 - 0 Frosinone : Atalanta beat Frosinone for first Serie A win of the season

Atalanta picked up their first points of the new season with a 2-0 victory over promoted Frosinone in Bergamo on Sunday evening.

Goals from Guglielmo Stendardo and Alejandro Gomez in each half handed the Bergamaschi a deserved win.

Defeat leaves Serie A new boys Frosinone without a point from their first two games of the campaign.

Atalanta, beaten 1-0 by Inter Milan in their league opener, had a great opportunity to take an early lead when the referee awarded the hosts a penalty after Leonardo Blanchard brought down Mauricio Pinilla in the area.

Pinilla stepped up to take the spot-kick but saw his right-footed attempt towards the far post saved by Leali.

However, they took the lead midway through the first half.

Frosinone's defence failed to clear a dangerous corner and Stendardo was first to the ball, hitting a right-footed shot from five yards past a helpless Leali.

The visitors had a good chance to pull level six minutes after the re-start but Federico Dionisis's diagonal shot was kept out by Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello.

Atalanta did not feel comfortable until they got the second goal and that came in the 69th minute.

Maximiliano Moralez set up Gomez just outside the area and his powerful shot towards the far post beat Leali.
