Barcelona announce departure of Denis Suarez to Villarreal

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez has been sold to Villarreal after reaching an agreement on a fee for the 21-year-old who was on loan at Sevilla last term, as reported by the club’s official website.

The youngster was supposed to remain in Andalusia until the summer of 2016, but Sevilla have agreed to the deal which will see him leave the club early and join the Yellow Submarine for an undisclosed fee, as per the source.

The report states that Barcelona maintain the option to buy the star back from Villarreal at the end of the current season and also hold a second option on the player should they wish to buy him at the conclusion of the 16/17 campaign and first refusal on the Spanish under-21 international.

Suarez played 31 times in La Liga last season scoring twice and creating 27 chances at Sevilla the third highest for a midfielder at the club, behind Ever Banega and Jose Antonio Reyes.

He had been at the Camp Nou since 2013 but is yet to play for the Spanish champions first team but did feature prominently in the B-side. He was briefly at Manchester City where he played just six times but has also played for Celta Vigo where he started his professional career in 2010.
