MANCHESTER UNITED are set to offer Real Madrid £65million PLUS David De Gea in a final attempt to sign Gareth Bale.
United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be desperate to bring in a marquee signing before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.
And while the Red Devils have been repeatedly linked with moves to sign Bayern Munich ace Thomas Muller and Barcelona's Neymar, the Daily Star claim Welshman Bale is his top target.
The Old Trafford club are reportedly willing to offer wantaway goalkeeper De Gea as bait to land Bale.
A club source told Starsport: "This would be the perfect deal for the club.
Manchester United are ready to make one last-ditch attempt to sign Gareth Bale
"It would cost them a lot of money but Gareth Bale is one of the world's biggest stars, while goalkeeper De Gea has made it clear he wants to leave.
"It would suit all parties but there is not much time left and deals like these tend to take weeks because of everything involved.
"But United remain determined to bring in a big, big name before the window closes."
