Liverpool target Christian Benteke will tell Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood he wants to leave the club, according to The Telegraph.

Benteke is scheduled to meet the manager on Wednesday and is expected to express a desire to leave after three seasons at Villa Park.

Villa have so far refused to consider bids below the striker’s £32.5m buyout clause but talks between Benteke and Sherwood may alter that.

The Belgium international is said to be reluctant to again hand in a transfer request, as he did two years ago.

UNWANTED: Liverpool's Fabio Borini has no future at Anfield

West Ham’s hopes of signing Fabio Borini have been boosted by Lazio withdrawing their interest in the forward, according to Il Messaggero.

Liverpool are happy to sell the 24-year-old but he reportedly couldn’t agree personal terms with Lazio, strengthening West Ham’s position.

Borini was Brendan Rodgers’ first Liverpool signing in 2012 but, after injury ruined his first season at the club, he fell behind Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in Rodgers’ plans, and has never recovered.
