Arda Turan a Barca man

Barca's board of directors have heard Luis Enrique's plea and have decided to sign Arda Turan.

According to an official communication on FC Barcelona's website, the Turk will be an 'Azulgranas' man for five seasons in exchange for 34 million euros plus seven in variables.

The future president could choose to implement the deal or not on 20th July, two days after the end of the elections.

They do have that right, but if the player is returned there would be a penalty for Barca, explained by the club in their statement as follows: "The transfer contract includes an option for the sale of the player to Atlético Madrid for the deal's fixed price minus a 10% a premium on the option. The option of sale can be used by FC Barcelona until midnight on 20th July so that the incoming board of directors of the club could, should they so desire, execute it. The agreement has been unanimously approved by the board. The board understands that the structure of the deal allows the interests of FC Barcelona to be protected and respects the decision of the president who is finally elected on 18th July".

Ten per cent of 34 million euros is 3.4 million euros, which would be the penalty if Barca sent Arda back to Atlético.

The board of directors explained their decision to sign Arda on a conditional basis, "The board was informed of the manager Luis Enrique's request last week and likewise of the favourable report given by the coaching committee with a view to Arda Turan joining the FC Barcelona squad. The committee analysed the deal, confirming that, in the wake of negotiations begun a few months ago, there is agreement with Atlético de Madrid regarding the transaction and with the player himself".
