Nani urges ex-Man United teammate to sign for Fenerbahce

Speaking to reporters upon his official unveiling at Fenerbahce, Nani has urged his former Manchester United teammate Robin van Persie to sign for the for the Istanbul giants.

28-year-old Nani completed a move to Fener on Monday, having spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon.

The winger—who has also represented the Portugal national side—had been deemed surplus to requirements by Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal, and looks set to be one of many players who leave Old Trafford this summer.

Another may be Robin van Persie, with the Dutch striker having been heavily linked with a move away from the club over the coming weeks.

Galatasaray confirmed an approach for the player in June, while The Guardian reported over the weekend that the player had agreed terms with Fenerbahce, Gala’s fierce rivals.

It appears, however, that the player is yet to complete a move, and reported back to United’s Carrington training ground on Monday for pre-season training [Mirror].

Speaking to Fenerbahce TV, as reported by our colleagues at Turkish Football, Nani would certainly love to see RVP join him at the Surkru Saracoglu Stadium.

''No I have not had the chance to speak with him yet but if he is coming here I think it is a very good decision to come here as he is a very experienced player and a player who will score goals,” Nani began, speaking to reporters at the ceremony to celebrate his signing.

''I know him well we are good friends so if the club signs him it will be a great choice.”

The winger agreed terms on a €6 million deal, signing a three-year contract with the Istanbul heavyweights.
