Juventus set date to open bidding for world-class Man City target

Juventus are eager to cash in on the highly sought-after Paul Pogba in this summer’s transfer window, but are waiting until a specific date next month to entice a bidding war.

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta believes that the Serie A champions are waiting until July 19 – when Barca’s election is concluded – with the aim of sparking a three-way transfer battle between the Champions League winners, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

He believes Juve have no intention to block a potential transfer for the 22-year-old.

According to Laporta, Juve are keen to take advantage of Pogba’s glowing reputation this summer, and will look to make as much money as possible for the player who joined as a free-agent in July 2012.

''I have an excellent rapport with (Pogba’s agent Mino) Raiola,” as quoted by the Express.

''I don’t think Juventus will do anything until there is a new president in charge of Barcelona. We will talk to the Italian club, but until there’s a new president they won’t want to discuss the matter.

''This is a clue that Juventus want to sell, if what they say is true. I don’t think they will get together with us until after July 19.”

Manchester City have been heavily linked to the France international over the past weeks and are, according to the Mirror, set to launch a £71m bid. However, with the Blues, Barca and the Red Devils also said to be interested, the Italian giants are in no rush to sell their prized asset.
