Real Madrid's Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas got married today in a Catholic church in Costa Rica, to Andrea Salas. A big crowd who gathered outside the church to watch the couple arrive.
The service was conducted by Fr. Sergio Valverde, and took place at the church of Santa Ana, a small parish located to the west of San José, with 250 special guests allowed inside.
Andrea Salas was wearing what she described as the dress of "her dreams", a white creation designed by Portuguese designer Mikaela Oliveira, and drove right up to the church door, where she was surrounded by onlookers and lots of cameras, video cameras and smart phones, taking pictures.
The couple, who did not talk to the press before the wedding, had already got married in a civil ceremony, and have a son, Mateo.
As night drew on, they held a press conference before joining a party being held at the Eventos Pedregal centre, some ten kilometres from the church. "We are very happy to be celebrating our wedding. I'm taking my wife to Madrid for our honeymoon, as I have to go back to the club and complete my treatment, but we have a little trip planned for after that", Navas said.
He explained that they had wanted to get married in church "for quite some time", but his footballing commitments had not given them the opportunity.
