Ronaldinho agrees to terminate Queretaro deal

Ronaldinho has finally left Mexican side Queretaro after his contract was terminated.

Queretaro boss Victor Manuel Vucetich had announced earlier this month that the club was looking to offload the 35-year-old Brazilian after just one season.

Queretaro have now confirmed his exit on their official website and expressed their gratitude to the 2002 World Cup winner.

A statement read: "Club Queretaro is informing its fans that it has decided together with Ronaldo de Assis Moreira to end the contract that bound the two.

"The finalisation of this working agreement came on the very best terms thanks to the understanding of both parties. The Brazilian defended with honour the Gallos shirt since September 2014, for which we are very grateful to him and we wish him all the success in the future."

It added: "In less than a year, Ronaldinho was part of the Club Queretaro team that made the Liga MX final for the first time in history and scored the goal with which the Gallos earned their ticket to the Liguilla.

"Queretaro will always be your home. We will never forget you. Thank you, Ronaldinho, for us you will be 'Always a Gallo.'"

Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho, who was named FIFA's World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005, used his Facebook account to "thank the Mexican nation with all my heart for all the days I spent with such special people."

Ronaldinho had signed for Queretaro in September in a shock move, but the Brazilian turned up late for the team's preseason over the winter and made headlines when he left the stadium after being substituted before half-time in a playoff game against Pachuca last month.

He gradually lost his starting spot for Queretaro after Vucetich took over in February and was only used as a substitute in both legs of the Clausura 2015 final against Santos Laguna.
