Memphis Depay can follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, according to former Red Devil Park Ji-Sung.
United moved quickly to snap up the Netherlands winger from PSV Eindhoven earlier this month as Louis van Gaal looks to transform his side into genuine Premier League title contenders for next season.
Former South Korea international Park is expecting big things from the 21-year-old winger following his transfer to Old Trafford and says that he has the desire to emulate Ronaldo at United.
Park is quoted as saying by Metro: “He’s still a young player – only 21-years-old – but I played with him and he has so much potential: he has strength, passing ability and skill.
“Some people say he’s like Cristiano Ronaldo and I can imagine that – he really has the desire to be the best player and United can help him achieve that.
“It’s a really good signing for both him and the club, and I’m sure he’ll show his quality for us.”
Depay, who is Van Gaal’s first signing of the summer, was a key part of PSV’s title-winning side after the Dutch forward scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 28 Eredivisie appearances this season.
The 21-year-old, who underwent a medical with the Red Devils earlier this month ahead of his move in June, also played under Van Gaal at last year’s World Cup in Brazil.
