Didier Drogba insists Chelsea must KEEP club legend Petr Cech

DIDIER DROGBA has told Chelsea they should keep Petr Cech and not wave goodbye to another club legend.

Drogba played his part as Chelsea picked up the Premier League trophy on a day of celebration at Stamford Bridge after beating Sunderland 3-1, and said farewell for the second time.

The 37-year-old was carried off by his team-mates as he was substituted after just 26 minutes having announced before the match he would be leaving, probably for a swansong in America's MLS.

Goalkeeper Cech, 33, is also likely to be on his way after losing his place to Belgian star Thibaut Courtois, and his agent said last week he has been given permission to talk to potential suitors. Arsenal, Paris St Germain and Manchester United are all interested.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said he does not want Cech to go but will leave the decision up to the player himself and the board, but Drogba, who has won four league titles alongside Cech as well as the Champions League, said: "The club should keep him because we know who Petr Cech is at this club. Look at the fans' reaction to him.

"But it is his decision, and no matter what happens the club will respect his decision. If he wants to stay, he can stay - he is more than welcome here. If he wants to go it is his choice as well. It's up to him. But we want him to stay!"

Drogba, who left in 2012 before returning for this one final season, said: "I spoke with Jose and the board and both of us found an agreement. Next year I want to have more minutes than I have had now, I just want to play, and finish maybe on a high.

"This year I didn't have that feeling. I felt I could still play, and I still want to enjoy it before I stop. For me to stay here and to finish with frustration, that is not possible, so we all agreed what is good for all of us.

"The team needs to be stronger next year, to compete in the Champions League, and they are going to buy new players, and also we have young players coming up. It's time to give them a chance.

"Since I put it out that I was leaving I was in the dressing room and I was already receiving calls from teams. It showed that maybe I can still bring something to a team."
