Sam Allardyce says he is in no rush to return to management after his departure from West Ham was confirmed on full time of their defeat to Newcastle.
West Ham have confirmed the departure of Sam Allardyce
Allardyce, 60, is keen to return to the dugout but not before a lengthy spell to recharge his batteries and spend time with his family following four years at Upton Park.
"I'm looking for a break well beyond August," he said.
"You need to recharge your batteries to feel refreshed if and when you come back."
"It's not just a job I'm after, it's the right job. I can't see myself being in charge of another club for the start of next season."
"I've thanked the players for their efforts. It has been a pleasure to manage a great club like this and to do what I was asked by getting them back into the Premier League and comfortably keeping them there."
Allardyce was told of the board's decision on Friday and it was announced straight after the game so he could discuss in his post-match media.
However, the club's website did not recognise British Summer Time, so the statement looked as if it had been released at half-time, when in fact it had was minutes after the final whistle in their 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.
