Liverpool linked with eight Serie A stars in major summer transfer revamp, with Arsenal target to replace Gerrard

Liverpool could be doing the bulk of their summer transfer window spending in Serie A this summer, with recent speculation seeing a number of Italian-based players linked with moves to Anfield for next season.

Brendan Rodgers could have a big job on his hands rebuilding for next season, with Raheem Sterling's future in doubt and Steven Gerrard heading to MLS giants LA Galaxy.

With that in mind, here are eight players seemingly under consideration for the Reds for the summer, though it remains to be seen how many will actually end up joining the club...

1) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Also wanted by Arsenal, Liverpool could look to sign in-form Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, a player who looks ideally suited to fill the void left by Steven Gerrard this summer.

2) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

With Liverpool still missing Luis Suarez, Napoli star Gonzalo Higuain could be exactly the striker they need next season and it is rumoured that he is on their list of targets.

3) Radja Nainggolan (AS Roma)

Another fine defensive midfield player, Radja Nainggolan has had an excellent season for AS Roma and has emerged as a target for Liverpool this summer.

4) Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

An exciting young striker, Inter Milan starlet Mauro Icardi is wanted by Liverpool as they eye attacking improvements, though Chelsea could also provide competition for his signature.

5) Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)

A surprise target given his age, but there's no doubting the quality of Juventus veteran Andrea Pirlo, who looks to be leaving this summer and could be offered one more big move if the Reds do come calling.

6) Carlos Tevez (Juventus)

In another possible raid on Juventus, Liverpool also want to sign former Manchester United man Carlos Tevez in another effort to fix their problems up front.

7) Miralem Pjanic (AS Roma)

Another player tipped to be signed to replace Gerrard, AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic would be another great raid on Serie A if Liverpool can pull it off.

8) Mateo Kovacic (Inter Milan)

A top class youngster who has caught the eye in Inter Milan's midfield, Mateo Kovacic is another player on the Reds' radar as they look to improve their squad this summer.
