Manchester United and Chelsea target Nico Gaitan ‘on cusp of Premier League transfer’

Gaitan looks set for a move to England

Manchester United and Chelsea target Nicolas Gaitan is reportedly closing in on a move to a mystery Premier League side after his agents flew to England to finalise a deal.

The Argentine winger celebrated his second league title with Benfica last week, but appears set to depart at the end of the season.

Chelsea and United have both been heavily linked with the 27-year-old, and according to reports in Portugal his representatives Luis Filipe Vieira and Jorge Mendes are currently negotiating with an unnamed English club.

Mendes has overseen a number of deals involving English clubs, with his clients including Diego Costa, Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gaitan is understood to have a release clause of £24.8million in his current contract.
