Real Madrid vs Getafe preview - Ancelotti confident he will stay

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti believes he will still be the coach of Real Madrid next season.

The Italian's future has been the subject of much speculation as Madrid have come up short in La Liga and the Champions League a year after Ancelotti led them to win the latter for the 10th time in their history.

Ancelotti says he has not had any discussions with the club regarding his future as he prepares to take charge of the final game of the season at home to Getafe, but expects to do so on Sunday or Monday.

It has been a tough end to the campaign for Madrid, going from the highs of winning the FIFA Club World Cup in December to the lows of crashing out of Europe and seeing Barcelona crowned champions.

Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, currently in charge of Napoli, is the latest name to be linked with the Bernabeu hotseat, but for Ancelotti it is business as usual.

"I still haven't spoken to the club and the club hasn't spoken to me," he said at a press conference.

"My mindset remains that I am the coach of this team until the club tells me otherwise. On Sunday or Monday we'll sit down and we'll talk about the future.

"That's what this world is like. Every year there is a lot of movement and I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by that".

"My feeling is that I'm going to be here. I think that the club is evaluating things and I want to stay here. I like this club and its players.

"There have been sad moments and happy ones, but last year we experienced perhaps the happiest moment in this club's history. What sticks out for me isn't sadness, but rather that I've given everything I could have.

"As a football fan and from my experience in this world, I understand that I'm being questioned.

"Everyone has their own personality and is entitled to have the opinion that they see fit. It doesn't bother me that other coaches are being talked about. There are always opinions about changing coaches and it doesn't bother me".

Ancelotti insists his relationship with president Florentino Perez is a "good" one.

He has also received the backing of his players, but feels that should play no part in whether he stays or goes.

"I'm grateful for what the players think," he said. "We have a very good relationship, but I think that it's an issue the players shouldn't be involved in. It's an issue for the club."

Ancelotti will serve the second game of a two-match touchline ban against Getafe, who are safe from the drop and, like their opponents, have nothing but pride left to play for.

They have only taken two points from the last 21, but looking ahead to the Madrid clash boss Pablo Franco said on the club website: "It is a day of enjoyment, to compete and play football. We will play better without pressure."
