Tottenham ready to offer Harry Kane new deal to fend off Man Utd

Tottenham are set to offer Harry Kane an improved contract to fend off interest from Manchester United, reports the Daily Express.

Kane is the first Tottenham player to score 30 goals in all competitions in a single season since Gary Lineker back in 1991/92, and he has firmly established himself as the club’s first-choice striker.

The 21-year-old has scored 20 goals in the league this term, second only to Sergio Aguero (25), and he has a chance conversion rate of 26%.

The Daily Mail report that United boss Louis van Gaal has made Kane his leading target as he looks to strengthen his attacking options, and the club are preparing a £45 million bid for the young forward, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Kane is a boyhood Tottenham fan, and he has worn the captain’s armband on occasion this season, indicating how highly he is regarded at White Hart Lane.

Spurs have no plans to sell him, and the Express claim that they could offer him a new deal to secure his long-term future.

The England international only signed his current contract, worth £35,000 per week, in February, but Tottenham are ready to offer him fresh terms that would see his wages move closer to £60,000 per week, according to the aforementioned source.

Tottenham beat Hull 2-0 on Saturday, and they could finish the season in fifth place if they win and Liverpool drop points on the final day of the campaign.
