Augsburg vs Hannover 96 preview - Augsburg targeting Europa campaign

Augsburg have the chance to make history this weekend when they host Hannover in the final home game of what will already go down as their best ever season.
The Bavarians go into the penultimate round of matches sitting in fifth place in the Bundesliga and potentially 90 minutes away from securing a place in the Europa League.
Up until three years ago, Augsburg had never played a single game in Germany's top flight, and now to have the opportunity of touring the continent is something they do not want to pass up.
"No matter what happens, we are going to end the season in the top half of the table and this makes it a good season for Augsburg," said their coach Markus Weinzierl.
"But we want to turn a good season into a sensational one."
Augsburg showed how much a maiden European qualification would mean to them by beating an almost full-strength Bayern Munich 1-0 on their own patch last weekend.
"That really did us good, even if it still was only worth three points," Weinzierl added on his club's website.
"We were able to send out a signal to our rivals, but we now have two incredibly important games to come."
The importance of Saturday's game is not lost on Hannover coach Michael Frontzeck either with the Reds the only side in the Bundesliga yet to win in the calendar year.
That run of form since the turn of the year has seen them slip into the bottom three with relegation a worrying and very real prospect.
"I think the most important thing is that we keep our cool and that is something I'm trying to pass on to the team," Frontzeck told bundesliga.de.
"The important thing is we get our minds free and focus on the tasks we've got to come.
"Given the way we've played at times in our recent games, we can be optimistic. And then we also need that little bit of luck which perhaps we've been lacking in recent weeks."
