Arbroath 2 - 2 Queen's Park : Murray bags brace in draw

Simon Murray bagged a brace as 10-man Arbroath came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Queen's Park in their Scottish League One semi-final first leg at Gayfield.

The opening exchanges created little in the way of clear-cut chances before Queen's went ahead when Bryan Wharton climbed highest to head home Sean Burns' corner in the 18th minute.

And things got worse for the hosts when Kieran McWalter was dismissed for a two-footed challenge on Burns.

The Spiders made the extra man count in the 36th minute as they doubled their advantage through Shaun Fraser. Paul Woods played in Burns and his cross was turned home at the far post by Fraser.

Murray gave the Red Lichties a lifeline two minutes before the break when he rifled home from close range.

Bobby Linn fired a shot narrowly wide as Arbroath went in search of an equaliser and the visitors had a Shaun Rooney goal disallowed for offside.

Arbroath did get their equaliser when Linn waltzed his way past three defenders before playing in Murray, who fired past Willie Muir.
