Brechin vs Alloa preview - McCormack set to miss out

Brechin are set to be without defender Darren McCormack for their first leg meeting with Alloa.

Manager Ray McKinnon is unlikely to appeal McCormack's dismissal in the 3-1 defeat by Stranraer at the weekend.

Fit-again Gerry McLauchlan looks set to step in with McKinnon saying: "I believe that the sending-off for handball was wrong and want to appeal, however I am looking for footage to help and there is none available.

"We may just have to take it on the chin and move on. We go into this tie with nothing to lose and everything to win which is the opposite position to Alloa."

Alloa have Graeme Holmes available after a ban but Jason Marr (hamstring) and Stephen Simmons (back) remain out.

Manager Danny Lennon said: "The players put in a fantastic performance in a high-pressure game against Cowdenbeath on Saturday and we will need the same again at Brechin.

"Brechin have had a good season but if we show the same attitude then we can win and get our campaign to stay in the Championship off to a great start.

"I have won in the play-offs before with Cowdenbeath and a lot of my players won in the play-offs with Alloa a couple of years ago. That experience will help."
