Almeria vs Celta Vigo preview - Mina ready for battle to the end

Celta Vigo striker Santi Mina is confident his team can beat Almeria on Monday to maintain their push for Europa League qualification.

The Galician outfit bounced back from a 4-2 home defeat to Real Madrid with Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Malaga.

Celta are ninth in the standings, three points adrift of Athletic Club, who are seventh and hold the last Europa League qualifying spot.

Athletic held Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw on Saturday.

"We are very close to the seventh position and we are really enthusiastic about getting there," Mina said to Spanish sports newspaper Marca. "We are only thinking about beating Almeria in order to continue to dream about playing in Europe next season."

Malaga and Espanyol are also in the race for the final European qualifying spot.

"It's going to be a battle until the end," Mina said. "There are other teams also in contention to finish seventh.

"We just need to focus on ourselves and try to get as many points as possible in our last four games.

"We expect a difficult match in Almeria."

Celta, coached by Eduardo Berizzo, have not lost on the road since March 8 and have won two of their last three away games since.

Almeria, who hold the last position of safety, fell 3-0 at Real Madrid in midweek to drop to 17th in the standings.

Victory on Monday would lift Almeria four points clear of the drop zone.

"We need to take advantage of this opportunity," Almeria midfielder Fernando Soriano said. "We need to approach this game as if it was our last match of the season.

"We are playing at home and we need to make the most of it.

"Our only focus is on Monday's game and we are not looking further ahead."

Almeria beat Celta 1-0 earlier this season.

Sergi Barjuan's men have lost just one of their last seven home games and take on Celta looking for their third straight win at the Juegos del Mediterraneo stadium.
