An 18-year-old waitress reportedly fled to the toilet in tears after an incident, amid claims she was left her with a bruise below her eye.

Police are said to have interviewed the £55,000-a-week Everton star, who is on loan from Tottenham, under caution over the alleged assault earlier this month.

The Sun reports the alleged incident happened at Suede nightclub in Manchester after his side's 1-0 win over Southampton on April 4.

Lennon was reportedly packed into a VIP booth with pals to watch US rapper Trey Songz perform.

A source told The Sun the girl had worked at the club for just under a year, adding the footballer and friends were "spending a lot of money on drinks".

They said: "She got really upset, left what she was doing and rushed to the toilet.

"She came out about an hour later and was annoyed security had not done anything and kicked Lennon out."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "On Wednesday 8 April 2015, police were called following reports an 18-year old woman had been assaulted at Suede night club, Longworth Street, Manchester city centre on Sunday 5 April 2015.

"A man has been interviewed under caution. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesman for Everton declined to comment ahead of their clash with Manchester United today when contacted by Daily Star Online.

Tottenham also declined to comment when contacted by the Daily Star Online.
