Alexis Sanchez looking to take Arsenal “as high as possible”

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he is aiming to take the club as “high as possible”, report the Daily Express.

The Gunners signed Sanchez from Barcelona for a reported fee of £35 million last summer and he has been a revelation since moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis Sanchez has won more tackles than any other Premier League forward this season (44).

His relentless energy, skill and finishing ability have added a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack, and he has scored 14 goals and registered eight assists in England’s top tier this season.

The Chile international feels that he has settled in well at his new club, and is aiming to help them achieve success.

''It hasn’t been really easy but so far my spell here is a really positive one. I like the city a lot and I feel really comfortable in the club. Supporters here are very cheerful and enlivening, which is a very nice thing.

''My team-mates are really kind too. My goal now is to take Arsenal as high as possible. I am well adapted to the country and the league,” Sanchez insisted.

Sanchez has been nominated for the PFA Player’s Player of the Year award as a result of his impressive form this season, but he feels there is still room for him to improve even further.

''I must keep on learning, though. I want to expand my knowledge of English football in general and Arsenal and my team-mates in particular, but overall I love this league.

''At the end of the day, football was invented in this country, right? I live where football was invented. That makes me really happy,” the Chilean declared.

The 26-year-old has played right across the front line for Arsene Wenger’s side this season, but he has tended to line up on the left flank in recent weeks.

He scored both of Arsenal’s goals in their 2-1 win against Reading in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend as the Gunners attempt to claim a piece of silverware for a second successive season, following their nine-year wait for a major honour.

Arsenal are looking to successfully defend the FA Cup, but they still have an outside chance of winning the title as well. They are currently third, ten points behind Chelsea, but have an opportunity to close the gap when they face the Premier League leaders on Sunday.
