Chelsea have reportedly been knocked back in their attempt to complete a stunning £100million transfer for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane, with the Spanish giants not interested in selling the pair.
The Sun have claimed the Blues called Real to ask about the availability of Bale and Varane, but were told that president Florentino Perez was not willing to let the pair leave despite question marks over the future of coach Carlo Ancelotti.
It is believed the Italian tactician could be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu outfit this summer unless he wins the La Liga title or the Champions League crown, although his future will not affect Bale or Varane's.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is thought to have been keen to recruit Bale for his goals, assists and blistering pace while the Portuguese has been an admirer of defender Varane from his coaching days at the Bernabeu.
