Borussia Dortmund vs SC Paderborn 07 preview - Dortmund set for quick decision

Borussia Dortmund will give consideration to whom they would like to appoint as Jurgen Klopp's successor only after they have got their next Bundesliga fixture out of the way this Saturday.

Klopp dropped a bombshell on Wednesday by announcing that he will be leaving the club in the summer to seek a new challenge.

With rumours doing the rounds about where Klopp will be working next season, Dortmund are concerned in finding the right man to replace him, and that is going to be on the agenda in the days after the visit of Paderborn to the Westfalenstadion.

"Our decision's not going to take an eternity," said Dortmund's general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke to the Osthessen Zeitung newspaper.

"I think that we'll be able to present a decent solution next week."

Thomas Tuchel, the man who succeeded Klopp at Mainz seven years ago, is the odds-on favourite, but Watzke says there could be a surprise.

"I would warn against thinking too one-dimensionally towards Thomas Tuchel," he said.

"All I can say is that it won't be a current second-division coach, and he's got to speak German."

The challenge Klopp's successor signs up for will become clearer over the final five weeks of the season with a win over East Westphalian rivals Paderborn key to keeping the club in the hunt for a place in Europe next season.

Six points separate Dortmund from a Europa League qualifying berth with as many games of the season left.

Paderborn will be no pushovers, though, as they are fighting for survival at the bottom of the table and showed they mean business by beating Augsburg last weekend.

"This game's an absolute highlight for us," said their coach Andre Breitenreiter at a press conference.

"We're going to have to run for our lives and get at our opponents in the tackle. It's going to be an intensive game because both sides have a lot to play for."
