SHOCKER: Jimmy Guichard dying in hospital in 2013

Karen Vandersypen says the Liverpool and England ace, 20, needs to be “taught a lesson” after he was filmed apparently inhaling a toxic gas through a balloon.

Her 20-year-old son Jimmy Guichard died after taking a different legal high in 2013.

She said: “The dangers of legal highs are there for all to see, it’s not right he’s doing it.

"People do know the dangers and if that’s what Sterling’s done and he still gets a spot in the England team then there’s something seriously wrong.

"If an England player does that then they should not be picked for the squad, full stop.

"He’s taking that just days before playing for his club, the management need to take action and not pick him.

"They wouldn’t have him if he had been caught taking cocaine or heroin.” In 2013, Karen released harrowing pictures of her dying son in his hospital bed.

Keen sportsman Jimmy, from Gravesend, Kent, suffered a heart attack and severe brain damage within hours of taking a herbal substance.

STORM: Sterling at Anfield before the Newcastle game on Monday

He was found unconscious next to an empty plastic bag from controversial legal high shop UK Skunkworks.

During the 81-second film clip, Sterling seemed to pass out. It is thought to have been captured at his £1.5million home just days before he scored in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Monday night.

Last night Sterling’s agent, Liverpool FC and England did not comment.

But Bobby Barnes, deputy chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, said: “He’s made a mistake and people are human.

Nobody would condone the use of these types of substances.”
