Arsenal 'close to finalising transfer for Maxi Romero after sending chief negotiator Dick Law to Argentina'
Maxi Romero could be confirmed as an Arsenal player soon

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the capture of Argentine star Maxi Romero after the club sent their chief negotiator Dick Law to finalise a deal for the 16-year-old.

According to The Mail, Law has flown to South America to continue discussions with Romero's club, Velez Sarsfield, over a reported £4.5million transfer for the teenage wonderkid.

Arsenal are believed to be in advanced talks with the Argentine club, with president Raul Gamez having recently revealed the north Londoners tabled a 'big' offer for the player who has been compared to Lionel Messi.

But it is claimed the deal has not yet been finalised because of issues about Romero's ownership rights - although Arsenal hope Law will be able to resolve them while in South America.

Should the Gunners complete the signing of the 16-year-old forward in the coming weeks, the player is expected to stay at Velez for at least two more seasons before eventually making the move to the Emirates Stadium.
