Promotion-chasing Queen of the South will give late checks to Iain Russell and Michael Paton ahead of the clash with Rangers.

Russell suffered a knee injury and Paton sustained a dead leg in Saturday's 1-0 win over Hibs.

Mark Millar (hand injury) and Paul Burns (hip) are definitely missing and boss James Fowler said: "Rangers are hitting a high level of performance consistently under Stuart McCall so we need to be at the top of our game to win this one.

"We have another crunch game against Falkirk on Sunday and I want to be going into that one with a good performance behind us."

Rangers captain Lee McCulloch misses the trip to Palmerston after being sent off against Hearts on Sunday.

The defender now starts a two-match ban and leaves boss McCall with a defensive headache as Seb Faure (knee), Richard Foster (hernia), Steven Smith (back), Kevin Mbabu (fitness issues), and Remie Streete (ear infection and muscle strain) are also all unavailable.

On top of that, Jon Daly (knee), Tom Walsh (hamstring), Gael Bigirimana (infection) and Shane Ferguson (knee) will also miss the journey to Dumfries.
