Carlisle vs Portsmouth preview - Trio could be back for Carlisle

Posted Thursday, April 02, 2015 by PA

Carlisle trio Anthony Griffith, Sean O'Hanlon and Courtney Meppen-Walter are all hoping to return to contention for the visit of Portsmouth.

Midfielder Griffith missed last week's defeat at Oxford as he was on international duty with Montserrat, while defenders O'Hanlon (knock) and Meppen-Walter (abdomen) have both missed the last two games through injury.

The Cumbrians will be without suspended defender Troy Archibald-Henville, who was sent off for two bookable offences last Saturday.

On-loan pair David Atkinson (Middlesbrough) and Jeffrey Monakana (Brighton) are hoping to make their home debuts in defence and midfield respectively, but Antony Sweeney (leg) and David Amoo (groin) remain doubtful.

Paul McCallum is the latest addition to Pompey's casualty list.

The on-loan West Ham striker, who recently completed a seven-match ban, will miss out after injuring his ankle playing for the reserves on Tuesday.

McCallum joins Andy Barcham (knee), Danny East (hamstring), Michael Poke (back), Paul Robinson (fractured cheekbone) and Jack Whatmough (knee) on the sidelines.

Defender Josh Passley will return to the squad after he was dropped for last week's defeat by Shrewsbury because he arrived late for the game.
