The mystery over the niggles Pepe has been carrying since the 'Clasico' has now been cleared up.
Tests performed by the Real Madrid medical staff have revealed that the centre-back has damaged a muscle in his right thigh, for which reason he is expected to be sidelined for a further ten days.
Pepe reported for international duty with Portugal, but ultimately was unable to feature in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Serbia and was cleared to return to Valdebebas ahead of the friendly against Cape Verde.
The Real Madrid coaching staff have pencilled in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Atlético, on 14th April, as a target for the defender's comeback.
