Chelsea fans left hoping club issue new tickets for Manchester United game after family dog chews up originals
The canine chewed up four tickets

Dogs may be known as man's best friend, but one family may be having doubts after coming home to find out that their dog had destroyed the envelope containing the tickets for the big match.

Chelsea fan Charlie Edwards from Wrexham recently decided to treat his family and spend more than £200 on tickets for the Blues' game against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. He was planning to take girlfriend Ceri, son Zack (10) and daugther Ellie (6) to what could be a huge game in the title race.

After a delay in getting the tickets, they finally arrived in the post whilst Charlie was at work and the children were at school. Unbeknownst to them family dog Elsa, a 12-month-old West Highland Terrier, could not resist opening the envelope containing the tickets before they came home.  She must not have known how important the envelope was as she tore the tickets into shreds.

The tickets are now in pieces and unusable and Charlie will now be relying on Chelsea to issue duplicates. Something which it only does on a case by case basis to try and reduce costs and discourage ticket touting.

Charlie explained the situation and his fears that the club may not believe the reason for needing new tickets, and we must admit it does sound like something that has come straight from a cartoon.

The whole family had been looking forward to getting tickets for the United game. We could not believe it when we saw what Elsa had done, the club does not automatically issue replacements so we hope they will believe our excuse that the dog ate them.

Charlie has definitely had a nightmare, let's hope that the club takes pity on him and makes an exception to send some duplicates before Elsa gets into any more trouble.
