Sheffield United vs Scunthorpe United preview - Same again for Clough

Posted Tuesday, March 24, 2015 by PA

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough is expected to select from an unchanged squad for the home game against Scunthorpe.

Clough has no new injury or suspension worries following Saturday's win against Port Vale, but defender Jay McEveley is not expected to feature due to his shoulder problem.

Defender Terry Kennedy, Stefan Scougall (both knee) and fellow midfielder James Wallace (muscular) are edging closer to a return to action but will not be ready to face the Iron.

Winger Ryan Flynn, defender Craig Alcock and midfielder Michael Doyle are among those pushing for recalls to the starting XI.

Scunthorpe's new loan signing John Lundstram could make his debut for the club.

The Everton midfielder was an unused substitute in Saturday's defeat at Rochdale, while striker Kyle Wootton is hoping to retain his place after making his full debut at the weekend.

Skipper Neal Bishop remains sidelined after recently undergoing groin surgery, but Gary McSheffrey and Hakeeb Adelakun will be in contention again despite both recovering from broken hands.

Midfielder Liam O'Neil is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up as the Iron chase their first win in eight league games.
