Eintracht Frankfurt 4 : 0 SC Paderborn 07 - Frankfurt pile pain on Paderborn

Eintracht Frankfurt got back to winning ways after a heavy defeat in Cologne last week by dishing out a punishment of their own against Paderborn.

The prolific Alexander Meier opened the scoring in a 4-0 win with Marc Stendera and Stefan Aigner also on target to leave the East Westphalian side inside the bottom three.

Nelson Valdez, making his return after a six-month injury absence, put the cherry on top for the Eagles late on with his team's fourth at the Waldstadion.

After an even opening, Meier decided to take charge of events, hitting the right-hand post with his first shot of the game.

A minute later, he gave Frankfurt the lead with Stendera crossing to Frankfurt's prolific midfielder, who netted his 19th of the season with a header from close range.

It was also the 75th Bundesliga goal for Meier, who leads the league's scoring charts.

The game was interrupted for a few minutes when referee Guido Winkmann was knocked to the ground by Marvin Bakalorz, who got away without a yellow card once the official finally regained his feet.

Paderborn did not find their feet, though, as they fell further behind before the interval with Meier this time the provider for Stendera, who left Lukas Kruse no chance for his third goal of the season.

The game was over early in the second half when Aigner completed a swift Frankfurt counter-attack as the visitors started to gamble and attack more, sending his shot through the legs of Kruse to make it three for the Eagles with his eighth of the season.

That knocked the stuffing out of Paderborn, but worse was still to come.

Valdez came on for his first appearance since September, and he crowned it in style.

He curled a shot past Kruse from 20 yards out to net his first Bundesliga goal in five years, and the yellow card he received for taking his shirt off in celebration did nothing to dampen his and Frankfurt's joy.
