Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino runs rule over Emmanuel Adebayor
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Emmanuel Adebayor understands why he is out-of-favour

Mauricio Pochettino says out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor respects his first-team selections for every match.

The 30-year-old forward has made just 15 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, scoring two goals in the process.

Adebayor appears to be frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities, and Pochettino insists every player understands whether they are selected or not.

"Always for every game its my decision, my choice. I think that they understand," Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

"All of our squad is fully fit and we need to pick 11 players. We have 25 players but we only need 18."

Adebayor has not even made the bench in Spurs' last nine matches in all competitions, with his last first-team appearance for the club dating back to 24 January when they lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City in the FA Cup.

The Togo international was Spurs' top goal scorer last season, scoring 14 times, but he is expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Adebayor is unlikely to feature in the squad that will face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday as they look to overtake sixth-placed Southampton and also close the gap on the top four to just three points.
