Lille boss Rene Girard says Arsenal are proof that the Premier League is sh*t

When Arsene Wenger woke up on Thursday morning he probably thought the worst was behind him.
The night before Arsenal had crumbled at home to AS Monaco in the Champions League. It was the shock of the round as many had predicted an easy win for the English side.
Cue criticism for Wenger with head-hunters out en masse demanding his sacking.
Papers and his own fans were kicking him while he was down and clearly the angry mob caught the attention of Lille coach Rene Girard – he rushed over to join in.
The Daily Mail have published quotes from Girard, who told journalists: "To those who say our league is shit, it [Monaco's win over Arsenal] proves there's perhaps shit elsewhere as well."
He's right though. Arsenal are proof that the billion dollar franchise that is the Premier League has no right to pontificate over other leagues.
Liverpool also embarrassed themselves in Europe, bowing out in the group stage of the Champions League. A Swiss side, FC Basel, progressed ahead of them.
The bottom line is that there are no easy games in the Champions League.
