Barca home in on Pogba
CLUB HAS CONTACTED PLAYER'S AGENT

FC Barcelona have made their move in a bid to sign Paul Pogba. The Catalan club has contacted Mino Raiola, the French player's agent, to express Barça's interest in securing the services of the Juventus midfielder.

Barça are the first big name club to openly enter into the fray for the promising youngster, who many believe will become an important player on the world stage.

Josep Maria Bartomeu wants to carry on as president of Barcelona and knows if he is to succeed, he needs to act quickly and pip his rivals to the post, especially with the figure of Joan Laporta looming large on the horizon.

The current Barcelona president has entrusted Ariedo Braida, who is currently in charge of the international market at the club, to approach the player's agent and get the ball rolling.

This isn't the first time Barcelona has expressed an interest in signing Pogba, but the situation has been confounded by the fact that FIFA imposed a ban on the Catalan club, on account of irregularities in their dealings with young players, effectively preventing Barça from making any new international signings until January 2016.

Bartomeu has made Pogba aware of his club's desire to sign him, but has asked the Frenchman to be patient and stay on at Juventus until the FIFA ban is over.

The idea is to agree on a deal before the current season is over and use the Frenchman's signing as an electoral weapon, just as Joan Laporta did in his day with Ronaldinho.
