Manuel Pellegrini laid into his flops after watching Luis Suarez put Manchester City to the sword with a deadly double at the Etihad.
ANGRY: Manuel Pellegrini tore into his City side after the defeat
Suarez blitzed City with a brace of clinical strikes before half time in a one-sided Champions League, last 16 showdown.
Sergio Aguero pulled one back for the Premier League champions after the break and Joe Hart saved a spot kick from Lionel Messi in stoppage time to give City some hope.
But Gael Clichy saw red for two bookable offences towards the end and Pellergini's men now need a minor miracle in the return leg in the Nou Camp in three weeks time if they are to reach the quarter-finals.
Pellegrini was less than impressed and he said: "I think that we played two different games, the first half and then the second."
DOUBLE: Suarez' brace gives Barcelona the advantage going into the second leg
"Until the first goal it was a very normal game but after that we concede an easy goal and played very badly until the first half finished."
"We repeat the same mistake as last year, by getting one player sent off. It is very difficult to play against Barcelona with ten men."
"We couldn't put three passes together in the first half. There was a bit of confusion. We committed a very soft error for the first goal."
"It is not the best result here at home. It is important for this team to continue in the Champions League as far as possible."
"This tie isn't over until the game ends in Barcelona. We can analyse it then but if we don't play our normal game then it is not easy for our team to win."
"It is important not to make the same mistakes. We cannot have a player sent off every game against Barcelona."
