Almeria - Real Sociedad preview - Zurutuza wants back-to-back wins

Real Sociedad midfielder David Zurutuza believes being able to string together back-to-back wins could make a world of difference to his side as they prepare to take on fellow relegation-battlers Almeria on Friday.

Sociedad have not managed to win successive league matches since last April and that lack of consistency has undoubtedly contributed to their struggles this season, with the Basque side currently four points above the drop zone.

However, Zurutuza believes if his side could put even a little run together, it would make things look far brighter at the San Sebastian outfit.

He said: "We all think that the team are capable, but we need to show it on the pitch.

"We need some consecutive wins to gain confident and breathing space, which would then help our morale and help us get good results."

Sociedad's situation would have looked considerably better had they not conceded an 85th-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 at home to Celta Vigo last weekend.

Now David Moyes' men travel to Almeria looking to rid themselves of an unwanted Primera Division record.

They are the only top-flight club yet to win away from home this season, and no team has scored less on their travels than Sociedad's tally of six goals.

Zurutuza, who returned from more than two months out injured against Celta, said on his club's website: "We've not done well away, and let's see if we can change that statistic against Almeria.

"It won't be easy, because they are in a similar situation to us, but I think we can win and need to go for it."

Fortunately for Moyes' side, 16th-placed Almeria have won just once at home - the joint-worst record in the division - and have collected just six of their 22 points at the Juegos Mediterraneos stadium.

Juan Ignacio Martinez's men have, however, shown an improvement of late and head into Friday's match in confident mood.

Almeria won 2-1 at Cordoba last time out having previously beaten Getafe 1-0, and winger Edgar said: "We are in a very important phase for us.

"Now is our most important moment because in the next month and a half we're going to face many of our direct rivals and we cannot leave things until the end."
