Blackpool vs Middlesbrough preview - Davies fit for Seasiders

Striker Steven Davies should be fit to lead the line for Blackpool against Middlesbrough.

The 27-year-old has had groin problems recently and feared the injury may have flared up again following Saturday's loss at Norwich, but manager Lee Clark is hopeful that the fact he came through 90 minutes is a good omen.

Goalkeeper Joe Lewis could also be back in the squad as he was expected to return to training on Monday following illness.

Confusion continues to surround the Cardiff loanee, though, with Clark recently confirming they had considered trying to send him back to the Bluebirds.

Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala returns to the squad after suspension for the trip to Blackpool.

The 24-year-old sat out the victories over Brentford and Charlton after reaching 10 bookings for the season during the FA Cup fourth round win at Manchester City on January 24, but is available once again.

Manager Aitor Karanka has no fresh injuries - full-back Ryan Fredericks is being assessed after taking a knock to his ankle against Charlton - as he attempts to guide his side to the top of the table with just a point separating them from pace-setters Bournemouth and Derby.

However, he is likely to be without right-back Emilio Nsue, who played in Equatorial Guinea's 1-0 defeat by DR Congo in Saturday's African Nations Cup third/fourth place play-off, once again.
