Bartomeu out on his own

On Friday Javier Faus and Carles Vilarrubi, two Barcelona vice-presidents, distanced themselves from Bartomeu's speech regarding accusations of tax fraud.
The club president blamed "the powers in Madrid" for Barcelona's struggles.
Yet opposing views to that theory have been coming from his own board of directors. The first to speak on the issue was Javier Faus: "There is no single reason to believe that anyone on this planet or from above is out to get Barça. There's no hidden agenda to go against Barça", he explained on Catalunya Ràdio.
Just a few minutes later, Carles Vilarrubí, vice-president of institutional relations, expressed his agreement with Faus. "I don't believe in this conspiracy theory", he stated on Rac-1.
The president seems to be very short of supporters. Bartomeu spoke on Tuesday, five hours after discovering the accusations against him. Maybe it was a rushed reaction that made him launch this attack without proof. He has not retracted his words, however.
Faus did criticise the way in which the president was accused. "Bartomeu is accused over an unusual topic. It's simply a technical question and they accuse the president without asking us".
