'Chicharito' reports illegal use of his image in a political campaign

Real Madrid forward Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez has reported the illegal use of his image in a political advertisement distributed in the Mexican city of Cuernavaca in the state of Morelos.

"They are using my image without my authorisation in the leaflets going round Cuernavaca", complained the player on his Twitter account.

Over the past few days, fliers have been distributed in Cuernavaca with a photo of 'Chicharito' wearing the Mexico strip, together with the message "I'm a football player, not a politician. I'm Mexican and I wear the green shirt."

On the other side of the flier is written, "I live healthily, I live well, think green" and a picture of the player with a sign that says "Come on Mexico, go green".

Although the advert with the Real Madrid player's image does not mention any specific political party, the colour mentioned is used by the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and the Partido Verde Ecologista de Mexico (PVEM).

The streets of all Mexican cities are starting to be drowned in political leaflets promoting the country's political parties, all gearing up for the Federal elections on 7th June in which 500 legislators who will form the governments of nine of the country's states will be chosen, as well as 1,500 local government positions in others.
