Public prosecutors are calling for a prison sentence of two years and one month for Real Betis forward Ruben Castro, who has been charged with four counts of assault on his ex-girlfriend.
The Canary Islander also faces a separate charge relating to a threatening text message.
The breakdown of the requested sentence is as follows: nine months in prison for the mild threats sent to Castro's former partner's mobile phone, and a further four months for each count of domestic violence.
On top of this, prosecutors wish to bar the former Las Palmas, Deportivo and Rayo man from possessing firearms or a gun licence and put a restraining order in place preventing the 33-year-old from contacting the victim, approaching her or going near her place of residence. They are also demanding that Castro pay his ex €360 in compensation.
