POLICE are investigating a bust-up at Everton Football Club's training ground after a 17-year-old goalkeeper was hospitalised.

The club's Finch Farm training ground was left in shock following the dispute, which left the youngster seriously injured.

Ciaran O'Loughlin, 17, suffered neck injuries, it has been confirmed.

A Sun source said the under-18s goalkeeper was involved in a row with an 18-year-old player.

Police officials confirmed: "A 17-year-old male received injuries to his neck during an argument with an 18-year-old male."

"He was taken to hospital where he is being treated.

He added: "The investigation is ongoing."

O'Loughlin is a rising star at the club and eligible to play for England and Ireland in the future due to his family.

An Everton spokesperson told the paper: "The matter is being investigated internally and the club will make no further comment."
